Overcoming the boundaries between human, animal and artificial in a constant game of speculative fictions and manipulations is the desire that animates the work of the eclectic artist Pierre Huyghe (Paris, 1962). On the occasion of the solo exhibition held in the spaces of Punta della Dogana, open until 24 November 2024, Marsilio Arte publishes the volume Pierre Huyghe. Liminal by Anne Stenne.
The exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to admire the latest creations of the artist – such as Liminal, the unprecedented installation designed specifically for Punta della Dogana – alongside historical pieces from the Pinault Collection. Drawing on the latest developments in science and technology, Huyghe’s hybrid works transform Punta della Dogana into a dynamic and evocative exhibition space, in constant transformation. «The exhibition», underlines Bruno Racine, director of Palazzo Grassi – Punta della Dogana, «is also the result of a profitable synergy with the Leeum Museum in Seoul, which will host it in 2025».
Central figure of the research of the relations of art with the non-human, since his first works Huyghe adopts another perspective than human to let emerge what is outside our understanding, out of our ability to experience it. His works are conceived as speculative fictions that often reveal a union of different forms of intelligence that learn, change and evolve during the exhibition.
The catalogue traces the entire career of the French artist, from 1993 to today, thus constituting the most complete publication on the French artist ever published in Italy.
