The language of music and that of photography mix in the artistic vocabulary of Julian Lennon, who arrives at the Stanze della Fotografia in Venice with an exhibition focused on a selection of his works and curated by Lennon himself and Sandrina Bonetti Rubelli. But what meaning does photography have for Lennon? That is one of the questions we asked him

Which visual and conceptual trajectory does your exhibition at the Stanze della Fotografia in Venice offer to the public?
A journey through time and space, through moments of fragility and surrender. Between the up close and personal, to the wider visions of your imagination.

Which shots have you selected and what are the key themes that emerge from your works?
Too many shots to say, likely around 100 in total. Touching moments of personal connection, not only with people but with the environment.

What place does photography have in your artistic process? How would you define this language?
It’s storytelling, of a direct nature, without judgement. Translating emotion and truth.

How did you relate to the Stanze della Fotografia in terms of exhibition design?
I think it’s perfect for what I’m trying to express and represent for my work in this particular exhibition. Hidden moments of discovery around every corner. Different stages of desire and life. And the reality of life and its connections, seen on the faces of those I’ve taken portraits of.
