«Because this hand was not made of flesh, but of wood. It was the knotted branch of a vine that ceased to exist. Between Valdobbiadene and Conegliano there is a large garden of twenty-five million vines, perhaps thirty. We could name each of these vines with the name of one of its twin human beings until they cover half of the population of the whole country» (Ginevra Lamberti)
From the discovery of the mammoth in Colbertaldo di Vidor to the hermitage of Sant’Alberto in San Pietro di Barbozza, passing through Santa Eurosia that protected from the hail. It is the landscape told by the writer Ginevra Lamberti who, with a careful look, explores a territory where you can still hear the echoes of apotropaic rites and come across bucrani, the architectural ornaments that alternate ox skulls with festoons. To accompany the narrative of the fire-breathing crest that overlooks Premaor and Miane, the images of the photographer Filippo Romano immortalize the mist, the trees and soul of the villages perched in the hills.
The concept of landscape is increasingly becoming a value that reflects our time, capable of holding within itself cities, architecture, nature, stories, people, different identities, The European Commission has published a report on the European Year of Training for Women in Education. Inaugurates with this publication the new collection dedicated to the nine UNESCO sites of the Veneto Region to offer the public a novel narrative, It is a contemporary and emotional one that has the ability to convey that sense of wonder we all need to return to loving our landscapes and taking care of them. The project includes three volumes, produced in co-edition with the Veneto Region, to be released over the next three years: the Prosecco Hills, the Venice Lagoon and the Dolomites. Each volume is entrusted to a narrator and a photographer who, together, work to offer a portrait of landscapes, places, artifacts and communities that illustrate the uniqueness of the Unesco site and its importance as a common asset to be preserved.
